Teodora Markova on Creating Epic and Memorable Characters

Teodora worked as a journalist before becoming a film and TV writer. She has created and co-written some of the most successful TV series in Bulgaria, among which the internationally acclaimed crime show Under Cover (2011), nominated for best foreign TV series at Monte Carlo Television Festival and distributed in 187 territories. Her mini-series Father’s Day (2019) was in the official selection of Série Series Fontainebleau and Venice International Film Festival – Gap Financing Market. Her first feature Bubblegum (2017) won the Best Screenplay Award at the Bulgarian National Festival Golden Rose. It was followed by Letters from Antarctica (2019), developed with the support of ScripTeast, and another 2 feature films, which are in post-production. Her newest series project in development is Gold War, supported by MEDIA CREATIVE EUROPE. It has received the Paramount Plus Award at MIA Market 2021 in Rome, and was also finalist of the HYPEWRITER TV pitch forum and Tallinn TV Beats Co-Financing Market. The latest TV series, co-created and co-written by Teodora Soviet Jeans is produced by the Latvian TASSE Film for GO3 Latvia and will be on screen from December 2023.
